About the FestivalThe Colorado Environmental Film Festival is presented by the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education. The event includes local and national feature length and short films for all ages, thought-provoking dialogue, a VIP reception and gala banquet, a children’s film room, a student filmmaker forum, and information from a variety of environmental groups! The festival presents informative and entertaining films that explore interconnected ecological, social, and economic themes. Engaging audience discussion with filmmakers, producers, and experts on the film's topic enrich the experience. Audiences have the opportunity to be more than passive viewers - they will leave inspired, surprised, motivated, entertained, and transformed. MissionThe Colorado Environmental Film Festival (CEFF) is a celebration of the power of film to inspire, educate, and motivate audiences. We will present thought-provoking films and dialogue that raise awareness of a wide variety of interconnected ecological, social, and economic themes. We hope to provide an experience for our audiences that goes beyond just passive film viewing: we aim to inspire our audiences into awareness and action. GoalsAn important component of CEFF will be the opportunity for open discussion related to the films, either with filmmakers or with experts on the film’s topic. We hope that the audiences will leave feeling that they can be a part of the solution to environmental problems. We will involve environmental organizations through an Expo Hall, where groups can share opportunities to get involved. While we will feature national films, we also hope to highlight the works of local filmmakers and foster an interest in environmental film making through mentoring and a student film forum. Our goal is to model sustainability in all areas of the film festival, including: reducing waste and providing recycling at screenings and events (with a goal of “Zero Waste”); offsetting carbon emissions; using recycled materials; encouraging the use of public transportation and carpooling; supporting local, organic, and fair trade producers.
