Junior Rangers (ages 6-7)

The Junior Rangers Workshops provide opportunities for six and seven year olds to become Botanists, Entomologists and Trekkers. These Rangers will set up "camp" at the Biodome at nederland Elementary School as well as discover the trails of the 40-acre woods.

Naturalists make science fun and meaningful! Through their enthusiasm and guidance, Naturalists make it possible to for each student to be able to see and touch even the smallest find. No experience is needed – just a love of the outdoors and willingness to work with children. Naturalists work one morning/week throughout the school year. All training is provided on-the-job.

Environmental Education Awards

Do you know of a successful environmental education program in a school, business, agency or community? Do you know of individuals or organizations working together to provide quality environmental education? If so, please nominate your program or theirs for a CAEE Environmental Education Award. The awards have honored leadership in developing effective, cooperative, multi-participant, cross-sector environmental education programs. Nominees should be individuals and/or organizations in Colorado that have demonstrated success in developing and implementing environmental education programs and/or partnerships. Award categories include: K-12, Higher Education, Citizen/Community, Media, Business, Nonprofit, Agriculture, Religious, Government and Best New Program. One individual will be acknowledged for long-standing dedication to the field of environmental education as the recipient of the Enos Mills Award. Nomintations are accepted yearly. Project Learning Tree (PLT) Teacher Workshops

Educator workshops to familiarize the participant with the PreK-8th grade activity guide book, the Individual Topic Secondary Modules, Fire Eduction resources. Learn how to use hands on, interactive content based activities to teach “how to think, not what to think” about complex environmental issues, wildlife, water, and forestry. Students gain critical and creative thinking skills while practicing reading, writing, and math skills. Take home strategies for reading and writing in the content area, activity guide books, videos, posters, grant opportunities, and other materials. College credit available.
