Annual Recognition program for Outstanding Environmental Education

Annual Awards and Recognition Program

Each year individuals and organizations from around the state of Colorado are recognized and honored for their hard work and dedication in the field of environmental education at an Awards Banquet.  Awards honor and celebrate environmental education programs, the lifetime accomplishments of an individual in the field of environmental education, and retiring environmental educators.

2010 Annual Awards Banquet

We celebrated excellence in environmental education on Friday, February 4, 2011, at the Renaissance Denver Hotel, located at 3801 Quebec Street, Denver, 80207. Thanks to everyone who joined us that night! Click here to see the 2010 Awards Booklet.

If you are interested in nominating a program or individual for the 2011 Awards Program, please see the nomination information below or contact CAEE at info@caee.org.

Program Awards

Initiated in 1996, CAEE Environmental Education Program awards have honored leadership in developing effective, cooperative, cross-sector environmental education programs. Nominees should be individuals and/or organizations in Colorado that have demonstrated success in developing and implementing environmental education programs and partnerships. Award categories include: PreK-Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Higher Education, Citizen/Community, Media, Business, Nonprofit, Agriculture, Religious/Spiritual, Government and Best New Program.

Awards for Excellence in Environmental Education recognize the highest quality programs in Colorado that are moving the field of environmental education forward.  Programs that demonstrate excellence in Diversity and Inclusiveness, evaluation, depth of experience, action components and collaboration will be given special consideration.

Program nominations for 2011 Awards will be due in Fall 2011. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Enos Mills Lifetime Achievement Award

One individual is acknowledged annually for significant achievement and contributions to the field of environmental education as the recipient of the Enos Mills Award. This award commemorates the 19th century naturalist in the Estes Park area, Enos Mills, whose vision, photographs and writings were largely responsible for the decision by Congress in 1915 to establish Rocky Mountain National Park. Like Enos Mills, the award recipient has demonstrated leadership and commitment to the field of E.E. through a body of work.

Nominations for 2011 Awards will be due in Fall 2011.

Outstanding Retiring Environmental Educators Award

Outstanding environmental educators who have retired (or are retiring) from their professional role in education, and whose contributions to the field of environmental education deserve recognition?  Are you such an educator?  If so, please nominate him/her - or yourself - for the Recognition for Outstanding Retired Environmental Educators!

Nominations are accepted throughout the year, with deadlines for review on May 1st and October 1st.
