Opportunities for excellence

Self-Review Workshop

Self-reviews are required to submit your EE program/material to the Colorado EE Resource Review process.   In this workshop you'll get up close and personal with the national Guidelines for Excellence - and learn how they'll be applied to Colorado's review process.  Then, you'll be given time to analyze and self-review one of your own programs and/or materials -- in a collaborative setting, with help available from Guidelines coaches and mentors, and peers.   It's probably the most important training in environmental education that you could possibly take!

This workshop is required for reviewers so that they understand and appreciate the self-review process.  This workshop is not required for submitters, but is highly recommended.

Reviewer Training

You can maintain your "edge of excellence" almost indefinitely by being part of the state's review team.  This training prepares you to lend your leadership and hone your skills in recognizing EE excellence.  Analyzing your own EE resources is one thing - but reviewing other programs/materials is a whole different ballgame!  We promise you'll find it an invaluable leadership experience and the most effective exercise you'll ever find for your own professional development.  Attendees should attend a Self-Review Workshop and are encouraged to bring a completed self-review to this workshop.

Basic Guidelines Workshop

The goal of this workshop is to develop familiarity with Environmental Education Materials: Guidelines for Excellence, NAAEE 1998 and instruct how to use these guidelines to develop resources.  This training is for anyone interested in the Guidelines, including submitters and reviewers, and will require 2-4 hours to complete.  This workshop is one option for reviewers to meet the prerequisite of a working knowledge of the review criteria.  There are other options including, self-instruction with the Environmental Education Materials: Guidelines for Excellence Workbook, which is available electronically or in a paper version.  Reviewers should contact CAEE if they are unsure if they meet this prerequisite.

These trainings will be offered individually or as a set.  Contact CAEE for more information about dates and locations.
